Kharnym's History
Ancient Rites
Kharnym Island’s rich culture is heavily influenced by the many immigrants that make their home there. In fact, many Carcosan traditions are still carried on in Kharnym.
One such tradition, the so-called “Voyage Irrévocable,” involves an indefinite period of travel at sea. Practitioners of this ritual willingly forgo navigational instruments and wander the ocean, never to return. This religious practice led to the discovery of Kharnym Island by Carcosan ritualists in 1899.
“Lo, the ocean of eventualities is parted. Our King has graced us with enlightenment, and His mandate is clear.”

Fortuitous Industry
The first Carcosan settlers constructed makeshift hovels in what is now Dragshallow Bay. Additionally, the area around Wistvale was developed to allow for the construction of a Post Office, which allowed the settlers to receive supplies from their homeland.
Kharnym’s population is uniquely diligent, and immediately established robust fishing and whaling industries, which remain fixtures of Kharnym’s economic output to this day. Additionally, Kharnym’s location created expedient shipping routes for the few other groups that were able to discover the island for themselves.
